Wimbledon 2018
Day Nine Sue Barker introduces coverage of the men's quarter-final singles matches, which are expected to be the main focus of attention on day nine at SW19. On this day in 2017, defending champion and then-world number one Andy Murray was eliminated by American 24th seed Sam Querrey. An epic five-set encounter eventually finished 3-6, 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 6-1 to the Las Vegas native, and would prove to be Murray's last competitive appearance for almost a year, with a hip injury leaving the Scot sidelined for the rest of 2017 and the first half of 2018. Following the conclusion of Murray and Querrey's match on Centre Court, Roger Federer and 2016 finalist Milos Raonic took to the turf for their quarter-final. A more straightforward affair finished 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) to Federer, setting up a semi-final clash with Tomas Berdych, whose last-eight clash with Novak Djokovic ended early with the Serbian second seed retiring injured
