He visits the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall to see species that have been saved from the verge of extinction and tries to win over the people of Truro with dwarf varieties suitable for any garden. Christine Walkden puts the case forward for the carnation, heading to a specialist nursery that has been growing them for more than 100 years and hits the streets in an effort to bring back the gentleman's buttonhole
