The Last Seabird Summer?
Season 1 Episode 2 of 2
Trouble at Sea Part two of two. Adam Nicolson catches up with the seabirds of the Shiants in July, and the colonies seem to be thriving. The puffings guillemots and razorbills are bringing in bill-fuls of fish to feed their chicks, but he discovers this scene is not a common one. The sea is failing to provide the birds with the food they need to survive, and in Scotland alone, an estimated 40 per cent of seabirds have been lost. Some olonies in Iceland are reported to have been wiped out, and Adam speaks to puffin hunters to discover how they have responded to this problem. Plus, with the help of expert ornithologists and marine scientists, he gains an insight into the global forces driving the crisis
