As usual, they begin by showing off their culinary skills with a single plate of food, before rustling up a dish in the invention test from either the sweet box, containing pineapple, white chocolate, digestives, pecan nuts, creme fraiche and sherry, or the savoury box, which has rabbit, smoked haddock, bacon, curly kale, vine tomatoes, baby turnips and leeks inside. After two hopefuls are shown the door, the rest cook a two-course meal for three guests - 2009 MasterChef champion Mat Follas, as well as previous finalists Andy Oliver and Tom Whitaker - before Gregg Wallace and John decide who will progress in the contest
